Analysys International: Youku, Tudou and Sohu Rank Top 3 in China Online Video Market in Q1, 2010

The statistics from Enfodesk, the Seasonal Survey of China Online Video Market in Q1, 2010, recently released by Analysys International, shows that Youku, Tudou and Sohu rank Top 3 in terms of revenue in China online video market.

 

 

In this quarter, Youku and Tudou continued to hold their place in 1st-tier camp, and Sohu came the third. Youku and Tudou share similar strategic layout and operation mode. They keep exploring innovated marketing value of online video and the use of UGC at the meanwhile purchasing films copyright actively so as to widen the gap with other independent online video websites. Moreover, dependent on its rich user resources, marketing resources and its continued investment in copyright, Sohu has posed threat to Youku and Tudou. The online video websites under broadcasting companies were at the beginning stage in Q1 and their market share was relatively small. However, the exclusive copyright of World Cup will help CNTV increase its market share and the market will see temporary changes. Whether CNTV could take dramatic turns is totally relied on its long-term efforts to its advertisers and users after the World Cup.
